148 Clouds, 2000, 148 4x6 c-prints
I photographed passing clouds 148 times to recount their appearance and disappearance. Distilling random formations into seemingly
symmetrical patterns, this sequential work is presented across the 45 feet of
the Rotunda gallery in a gesture the mimics the actual taking of the photographs.
The clouds function as the documentation of singular moments, a presentation of
sequential time, and as an indication of a world that is simultaneously
familiar and without context.
